Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Christianity the one true religion?
A: Yes, the Bible teaches that Christianity is the one true religion.  Jesus said that He alone is the way to the Father (John 14:6), and that He alone reveals the Father (Matthew 11:27; Luke 10:22)

Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God (John 8:58, Ex. 3:14) who forgave sins (Mark 2:5; Luke 5:20; 7:28) and rose from the dead (Luke 24:24-29; John 2:19f).

Buddha didn't rise from the dead, nor did Confucius.  Muhammed didn't fulfill detailed prophecy.  There is far less reliable information written about them, yet people believe in them.  Check out the Bible and see what it says about Jesus.  Don't take our word for it.  See if it's true.

Q: What do I need to do to join the church?
A: The first thing you must do before joining any church is to first have a relationship with Jesus.  In order to be a Christian you must recognize your sin (Romans 3:23, 6:23).  You must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for your sin and that He rose from the dead (Romans 10:9-11).  You must turn away from your lifestyle of sin (2 Corinthians 5:15), and you must be willing to let Jesus come into your heart and be Master of your life (Rev. 3:20).

If you've accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you need to make that decision public before a local church.  We have an invitation time at the end of all our AM services where you can make your decision public.  After you express interest in joining the church, we ask all our prospective members to attend a new member's clas before they officially join.  We then believe the next step for a believer is to be baptized by immersion in front of the church family.  We do not believe baptism saves an individual, however, we believe it is the first step of obedience for the Christian to follow the example of Christ.

After being baptized, a Christian should not just sit in the pew.  We believe a Christian needs to get involved in ministry by finding out his or her spiritual gifts and putting them into practice in the church body.  A growing Christian is an obedient Christian.  Making a difference in other people's lives is the call of all believers.

Q: If God gave us the Bible so that we could understand Him better, then why are some parts of it confusing?  Why didn't he make everything clear?
A: We must admit that there are parts of the Bible that are confusing.

The Bible is sometimes confusing because God wrote it using various human authors.  They used a different language and had different historical and cultural contexts.  When the specific books of the Bible were written, they were understood more clearly by the culture that heard them than we do today.  Like other historical documents, further study of the culture and the context of a book will shed additional light on the written text.

There are parts of the Bible that are difficult to understand, but an objective interpretation is possible.  It is important to realize that the essential messages of the Bible are clear and without dispute.  The timeless message of the Bible proves why it is still the world's #1 Best Seller.

Q: If you had two minutes to convince a person of a different belief about Jesus being our Lord and Savior, what would you say?
A: Some people really resist in believing that Jesus is God's Son.  Try explaining the fact that Jesus did miracles that only God could do and that He was proclaimed to be God by the prophets and his followers.  He proved who He was by defeating death by His resurrection.  No one else in history has ever raised themselves from the dead!

Q: From Parents:  How can you help my son/daughter get involved in your student ministry?
A: If you need help getting your son or daughter connected to our ministry...PLEASE allow us to help.  We promise we will do three things:

1) We'll have one of our leaders call and/or write your student to personally invite him/her to one of our events.

2) We'll have one of our student leaders do the same as #1.

3) We'll put him/her on our mailing list.  We'll share whatever information we can that might help your student get plugged in.

Q: Does the student ministry need help?  If so, how can I help?
A: Yes, we need help!  If you are interested in serving in one of the most exciting ministries in our church, you'd be part of a great team of men and women volunteers.

There is no stereotype of a good youth worker you must fit:

- You don't need to be perfect.
- You don't need to be a seminary graduate.
- You don't need to be cool.

ALL WE ASK IS THAT YOU HAVE A LOVE FOR JESUS CHRIST AND A LOVE FOR STUDENTS.
